A few from our Press day...

Here's a few images taken from our Press Day last week which was held at Pressroom Communications.

We sent Holly (our amazing intern) down the day before to decorate the Lily and Lionel rails to perfection and generally make the showroom look great. Holly's due to go on holiday on Monday but we're seriously contemplating holding her ransom in the office!

Anyway, see below a selection of images plus some of our favourite pieces from the other brands who were showing. Check out our new bag range below sitting very happily with Sophie Gittins shoes.

Nick from Pressroom, getting lost in the scarf rail!

Some of our favourite pieces were (imaged from top);

  • U's Amazingly fine and butter soft everyday t-shirts and tanks. We kinda wanted everything on the rail!
  • Vanessa Da Silva's gorgeous beaded and printed sweater sweater and frill sleeved dress from the Society Gypsy Collection.

Ever wondered why artists/musicians and creative types are famous for wearing striped T-shirts? One theory sugegsts that it's all down to the icon and inventor of modern art- Pablo Picasso (photograph above) who sported his throught the 1960's .

Famously painted by Henri Matisse in the 1906 'Self portrait in a striped T-shirt' this classic fashionable item was born. Originally worn by French fishermen in the 19th century, the classic sailors' Breton T-Shirt has been worn by Brigitte Bardot, James Dean, Iggy Pop, Kurt Cobain as well as more recently; Jean-Paul Gautier and Alexa Chung (who funnily enough has been closely linked to Chanel).

Now a classic staple in every wardrobe which may have a lot to do with its stylish wearers Coco Chanel and later Picasso- it is said that the creative association between this nautical T-Shirt and it's wearer was fused.
The question is, how creative do you feel in yours?

Yet more gloating...

On a trip to Bath this weekend my lovely colleague Hannah happened to be strolling past Square Boutique (one of our new stockists) and was stopped in her tracks by the stunning window display they have featuring ahem, Lily and Lionel's
beach scarves.
LOVE how the scarves look like watercolour paintings in the background.
A sterling job- thanks Square!
